Summer Enrichment Program
Thank you for your interest in our 2020 Summer Bridge Reading and Math Learning Enrichment Program at the Academic Support and Resource Center. The programs meet once a week for 5 weeks.
Students in our learning enrichment program learn both online at home (with guided tutor support) and face to face through our blended one on one and small group personalized learning enrichment program.
According to Cunningham and Stanovich (1998), the key predictors of positive reading development are success when learning to read and numerous opportunities and experiences with reading.
Research has shown that early and sustained summer learning opportunities lead to higher graduation rates, better preparation for college, and positive effects on children’s self-esteem, confidence, and motivation. We have developed a successful summer reading program that will help to support and minimize the “summer slide” or the summer set back that children experience during the summer months.
Our innovative “hybrid” summer reading bridge skills program combines elements of youth development principles with academic achievement. In addition to literacy-related activities, students will benefit academically from storytime, technology integration, arts and crafts, and other special events designed to enhance the reading experience. It is an integrated supplemental program that builds reading skills to prepare your child for the next grade. We utilize a research-based reading intervention program designed for maximum academic growth.
